Artist's Bio

Sheila Mase was born and lives in Meriden, Connecticut, U.S.A. She was early in life inspired by natures beauty & vintage things as she lived on a wonderful small farm her grandfather owned. The property abutted what is one of Connecticut's most beautiful parks & mountains. Ironically, she would much later in life find out that the victorian home & property was a retreat for artists & writers back in the 1800's. She has been drawing & painting since she was four years old and is self taught.

Her art is exhibited in New England area galleries. She has also sold to customers all over the U.S.A., through the internet & selected gifts shops.

Sheila likes working mostly with watercolors - the softer look you can achieve by using them. She also works with acrylics to hand paint and embellish small antique & vintage items in soft pastels & muted tones. Her trademark name is: COTTAGE COLORS®.
She loves older things & has tried to combine the two with what she does. She has also done some decoupage. She reproduces some of her work in limited quantities.

Sheila's favorite mediums are watercolors & colored pencil. She works mostly with very fine brushes in several layers of washes which gives the painting more depth & detail. Her work is very time intensive.

Her hope is that her work will make you smile & give a sense of warmth & cheer to the viewer.
